Florida Sangenkai Internal Power Study Group.
Monday 7:15 Fort Lauderdale Aikikai: Developing Internal Power and Expression in Aikido Waza/No Waza
This class is open to all members of Fort Lauderdale Aikikai and other practitioners who are interested in developing the basics of Internal Power through solo exercises and paired exercises (pushing etc.) and their application in Aikido techniques and principals.
Students must be willing to practice solo exercises at home and be willing to re-examine how they approach waza, extension and connection.
Class will be approximately 50% IP development and all application of IP will be focused on expression in traditional Aikido.
Dogi with or without hakama is required out of respect for the hosting dojo as this is an Aikido class.
Non-Florida Aikikai members are expected to sign a waiver and pay a mat fee.
- Internal Power Private Study Group
Wednesday Evening and Sunday afternoon by appointment and approval of the instructor. (Palm Beach County)
Open to students who have attended one or more Sangenkai Seminars with Dan Harden or with prior approval of the instructor.
The focus of these sessions is to practice and test Internal Power development in a study group environment.
Application is not limited to Aikido, though Aikido and Daito-Ryu, as well as other activities (riding a bicycle, skiing, using a screwdriver) are likely to be involved as methods of solo testing and IP development.
Part of this practice is to bridge the gap between IP development and it’s expression in everyday activities as well as grappling and striking.
If you are interested contact the instructor and introduce yourself with a short email describing your background and goals. This practice is NOT limited to Martial Arts.
- Monthly Internal Power Workshop (TBD) Broward and/or Palm Beach County
A monthly, or bi-monthly workshop is planned for Sunday afternoons. This three hour workshop will be open to those looking for an introduction to Internal Power or additional practice. Shorts or sweat pants and shirt (no dogi required). Focus will be IP development and body awareness/sensitivity.
- Weekend Seminars with Dan Harden
Sangenkai Florida hopes to host two weekend seminars per year, based on Dan’s availability and the number of interested students.
This would be a continuation of the seminars that Aikido of Boca has hosted for the last several years and all fees and registration will be handled by Dan. Locations and dates will be posted here when schedules are established.
Our first seminar will be February 2nd and 3rd 2019 in Lake Worth. We continue to look for venues and hosts to be able to run two or more weekend seminars a year.
